Privacy Policy
At pdfEditor, we believe your documents are your business. That is why our tools are engineered to run completely in your browser.
Last Updated: July 10, 2026
We appreciate that you trust us with your PDF documents, contracts, faxes, and scans. This Privacy Policy describes how pdfEditor (the "Service") handles information when you visit or use our tools.
1. Zero-Upload, Zero-Server Architecture
Unlike traditional online PDF tool websites, we do not upload your documents to a remote server. All tools (including Merge PDF, Split PDF, Rotate PDF, Compress PDF, Reorder Pages, Add Watermark, and Page Numbers) operate locally inside your web browser using client-side JavaScript.
- No transmission: Your files are never sent over the internet to our servers or any third-party processors.
- No storage: Because files are never sent, they are never saved, cached, or stored on our servers.
- Browser memory processing: Your files are loaded into your device's active memory (RAM) and processed in a sandbox. The moment you close or reload the browser tab, that memory is completely cleared.
2. Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect, harvest, or sell any of the following:
- Document content: Any text, images, forms, or metadata contained within the PDF files you open.
- Personal identity information: We do not require you to register, create an account, or submit your name or email to use the PDF toolkit.
- Usage tracking: We do not run third-party tracking scripts, advertising trackers, or fingerprinting utilities.
3. Information We Collect (Contact Form)
If you voluntarily choose to contact us using our Contact Us form or by direct email:
- We receive only the details you choose to submit (name, email address, subject, and message content).
- We use this data solely to respond to your inquiry, solve bug reports, or collect feature requests.
- We will never share or sell your contact information to third parties, nor will we use it for advertising.
4. Cookies and Web Storage
We use local browser technologies strictly for preference management:
- localStorage: We store a small preference value (
theme) to remember your preference for Light Mode or Dark Mode. This data remains on your machine and is never transmitted to us. - No analytical cookies: We do not set analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics, Hotjar) to monitor your activity.
5. Data Security
Because all operations take place within your browser, the security of your files matches the security of your own device. To ensure maximum protection:
- Keep your browser updated to the latest version to ensure sandbox security features are active.
- Use standard security hygiene on your device to prevent unauthorized local file access.
- Avoid processing sensitive files on shared public computers where local browser data or history might be compromised.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Because the core architecture of pdfEditor is client-side, we will never change the fundamental principle that your files remain private on your device.
7. Contact us
